Strength of Materials Notes

                          STRENGTH OF MATERIALS

  •                            STRAIN ENERGY

(Generally)   strain energy is the energy stored by a system undergoing deformation.

In SOM, this can be defined as the energy stored in a body when strained with in ELASTIC limit.its units are N-m or joules.

the topics we are going to discuss are as follow:

  • Introduction to strain energy
  • energy of dilation and distortion
  •  Resilience
  •  stress due to suddenly applied loads
  •  Castigliano’s theorm
  •  Maxwell’s theorem of reciprocal deflection.

The detailed study about the above topics is under the link provided ou can download it from their(and it is in pdf format)
                                                                          Paper 2
